Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our finance team. You will work alongside a collaborative, supportive team that is invested in your growth and genuinely enjoys what they do. This internship offers hands-on experience across core accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, data management, and system operations. The intern will gain practical exposure to journal entries, GAAP accounting principles, and our NetSuite ERP environment — building a strong foundation for a career in accounting or finance.
Key Responsibilities
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (A/R) CYCLE
- Assist with the preparation, review, and distribution of customer invoices
- Support the collections process by following up on outstanding balances
- Monitor aging reports and escalate delinquent accounts as appropriate
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of all A/R transactions and correspondence
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE (A/P) CYCLE
- Process and code vendor invoices for payment in accordance with company policy
- Verify invoice accuracy against purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Assist with payment runs and vendor statement reconciliations
- Maintain organized vendor files and support the month-end A/P close process
DATA PROJECTS
- Participate in data clean-up, migration, and validation initiatives
- Compile, organize, and analyze financial data to support reporting needs
- Prepare summary reports and dashboards to communicate findings to the team
- Uphold data integrity standards across all accounting records and systems
NETSUITE SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS & IMPROVEMENTS
- Assist in testing and implementing NetSuite system updates and workflow improvements
- Document processes and system configurations to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate with the accounting team to identify and report system inefficiencies
- Support the creation and maintenance of saved searches, reports, and dashboards in NetSuite
ACCOUNTING FUNDAMENTALS
- Gain introductory exposure to journal entry preparation and review
- Develop an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Shadow senior accountants during month-end and year-end close activities
- Support ad hoc accounting projects as assigned
AI & AUTOMATION
- Identify repetitive or manual accounting and finance tasks that are strong candidates for automation
- Design and build AI-powered workflows, agents, or tools to streamline processes such as invoicing, collections, reporting, and data reconciliation
- Collaborate with the accounting team to test, refine, and document AI solutions that integrate with existing systems including NetSuite and Salesforce
- Support the development of AI-assisted reporting, dashboards, and data analysis to improve decision-making across the department
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and the accounting cycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data formatting a plus)
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Team player with a positive attitude and a genuine motivation to learn
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Strong data analysis skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to data integrity and accuracy
PREFERRED
- Prior internship or work experience in an accounting or finance environment
- Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP platforms
- Exposure to accounts receivable or accounts payable processes
- Hands-on experience building AI agents or automated workflows using Claude or other tools such as ChatGPT, n8n, Make, Zapier, or similar platforms
