Clint Watts is the leader of Microsoft’s Digital Threat Analysis Center (DTAC). Clint leads the team’s efforts to detect and disrupt foreign malign influence efforts affecting democracies around the world. Prior to joining DTAC, Clint was the founder of Miburo, a digital analysis and consulting company acquired by Microsoft in July 2022.
Clint is a former U.S. Army infantry officer, FBI Special Agent, Executive Officer of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point (CTC), consultant to the FBI’s Counter Terrorism Division (CTD) and National Security Branch (NSB), and analyst supporting the U.S. Intelligence Community and U.S. Special Operations Command.
Clint also acts as a national security contributor for NBC News and MSNBC and author of the book, Messing With The Enemy: Surviving in a Social Media World of Hackers, Terrorists, Russians and Fake News. Clint’s writing has appeared in a range of publications to include the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The
Daily Beast, Politico, Lawfare, War On The Rocks and the Huffington Post.
Commander Kirk Lippold, USN (Ret.) was the Commanding Officer of the USS Cole when it came under a suicide terrorist attack by al Qaeda in the port of Aden, Yemen. This event is widely recognized as one of the most brazen acts of terrorism by al Qaeda prior to September 11, 2001.
Kirk is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and received his commission in the Navy in 1981. He served on several ships, including a tank landing ship and guided missile cruisers and destroyers. He attended the Navy Postgraduate School where he received a Master of Science in Systems Engineering and a 1994 graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
Currently, Commander Lippold is the president of Lippold Strategies, LLC and is a renowned inspirational leadership speaker and has appeared on numerous domestic and international news networks speaking about critical national security issues affecting our nation. He is also the author of Front Burner – Al Qaeda’s Attack on the USS Cole, that recounts the story of Al Qaeda’s bombing of his ship and the continuing ramifications for our national security.
